Pre-Gamin’: Dodgers at Cubs (7:05 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thead

Mike Montgomery has made four starts for the Chicago Cubs this season. In his most recent three starts, he lasted a full 6.0 innings. In the game before that, he lasted 5.2 innings.

With Brandon Morrow unavailable tonight and nearly 30 pitches thrown for both Pedro Strop and Justin Wilson (let alone the work put in by Steve Cishek and Randy Rosario), the Cubs are going to need a nice lengthy start from Montgomery, more than they ever have. Oh, and did I mention that the Cubs don’t have an off-day until July 2, either? Yeah, this’ll be fun. Please, just keep it going, Monty. And wake up, Cubs offense. We really need it.

Meanwhile, Rich Hill is coming off the disabled list (blister) to make this start against the Cubs tonight. And while he is 38 years old, coming off the DL, and hasn’t recorded an out in the big leagues in over a month, I’ve learned my lesson enough times to know not to take Rich Hill lightly. His numbers look terrible this season, but I refuse to believe it until I see it.

Salvage the day and the series, Cubs. Let’s go.
