The family and I are taking off on vacation today, our first one of any length since the little guy was born last spring, so expect the Daily to be shorter for the next week or so. You’ll still get the team links, scores, and box score links, but the Daily will be much lighter on player highlights and links to other stories.
Assuming, that is, that I have internet at all. Everytime I head into the mountains I try to make sure it will all work, and my track record is only about fifty percent. I’ll find out soon.
Triple A: Iowa Cubs
Oklahoma 6, Iowa 4 in eleven innings
Iowa only allowed runs in the fifth and the eleventh.
The bullpen pitched well, but Thompson had a rough start. Trent Giambrone and Jesse Hodges each had a pair of hits.
Cory Abbott pitched another great game, including 9 strikeouts. Manuel Rondon struck out 5 more in the final three innings.
Low A: South Bend Cubs
The Cubs were rained out.
The highlihgt of this game for the Emeralds was probably catcher Brennon Kaleiwahea taking the mound in the ninth.
Thirteen strikes from the mound plus two homers at the plate equals the Cubs are fifteen games over .500 in the second half.
The Cubs rallied for two in the eighth. Cole Roederer and Drew Wharton each had two hits.
- Of note from Arizona, Bailey Clark pitched two rehab innings, allowed nothing, and struck out three. That was his fourth rehab appearance. Clark has some of the best stuff in the farm system, and this year he was able to locate it before he got hurt. Hopefully he can get a few more games at Myrtle Beach before the season ends.
- Speaking of Myrtle Beach, tomorrow night they will be wearing the awesome Deaf Awareness Night jerseys.
