Enhanced Box Scores

At best – best! – you could say something like, “Well, this is what it looks like when a very tired team faces some good pitching.” Like, that’s the *comforting* version of what we’ve seen this week.

The less comforting version? Well, let’s just say it would leave you with worries about the offense for the rest of this month. I’m not so sure that’s the wrong version. Or maybe I’m just extra bummed right now.

This was a very close game until the later innings thanks to another solid Kyle Hendricks outing and good relief pitching (until the final frame), as well as some nice defense. But the bats just couldn’t come through (though, in fairness, they did hit several balls quite hard, and they didn’t fall in) once again. It stings. I’m stung right now.
