Brewers Bounce Playoff Kershaw, Cubs Awards, No Interviews Allowed, and Other Bullets
The Littlest Girl was up a lot last night, and, although I’ve been dealing with limited sleep for a year now without issue, it’s been a long time since I had a really interrupted night of sleep. It’s making my brain jello today.
- The Dodgers looked wholly inept against the Brewers for about seven innings last night in Game One of the NLCS, leaving themselves a hole too deep for their late rallies to overcome. The Brewers did as they do, turning to the bullpen after just two innings, and then holding the line. That’s 12 wins in a row for the Brewers. Incredible.
- Things got close in the 9th with two outs – the Dodgers came within 90 feet of tying the thing:
- For the most part, the Brewers have earned all the winning they’ve done, but if you needed any more evidence of the gigantic horseshoe the Brewers also have lodged betwixt their cheeks, this is the first reliever in the game, whom the Brewers decided to send to the plate – a lefty-hitting reliever at the plate against Clayton Kershaw:
Brandon Woodruff are you KIDDING ME!?
The @Brewers pitcher just took Kershaw deep!

- No surprise here for the always well-deserving Anthony Rizzo:

- Denying him the chance to interview for a promotion, eh? Certainly the Brewers’ prerogative, but kinda not cool:
#SFGiants asked to speak to #Brewers GM David Stearns about becoming their president of baseball operations, but Milwaukee owner Mark Attanasio denied permission, sources tell The Athletic. Stearns has at least one year left on his deal, sources say.

- Clayton Kershaw makes faces that make for jokes:

- With another rough outing last night, the whole “playoff Kershaw” narrative will not be going away any time soon. And, at this point, it probably shouldn’t. He’s had nearly a season’s worth of starts in the postseason in his career, and the results have been nothing remotely close to resembling the regular-season version of the lefty. You’re facing better teams in the postseason, sure, but I think it’s fair to wonder if the dude just wears down by the end of the year. He’s had back issues for a few years now, and maybe he just doesn’t hold up as well into October as other pitchers do. Hard to dismiss it entirely at this point.
Don’t worry Clayton, we’ll always have this. #Cubs #Rizzo @BleacherNation @realcubsinsider pic.twitter.com/xGhiJRXpbf
