Rehabbing Cubs Closer Brandon Morrow Throws Off the Mound for the First Time

Chicago Cubs News

Eventual(?) Cubs closer Brandon Morrow took his next rehab step today, and it was a biggy: throwing a bullpen session off the mound.

By all accounts, it went as well as can be expected:

That all sounds good and measured from Morrow in the Tribune piece. He’s coming back from November elbow surgery on the back of a half-lost season. He’s 34 and has been injured for most of his career. I doubt he’s the kind of guy who is going to come out of the gate saying YES I AM DEFINITELY COMPLETELY 100% AND I GUARANTEE THERE WILL BE NO SETBACKS! Instead, he’s going to be thoughtful, and just say it straight: today was a good day. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Here’s hoping his recovery continues to go according to schedule, which would have him heading out for a minor league rehab assignment in mid-April.
