Pre-Gamin’: Phillies at Cubs (6:05 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Pre-Gamin'

After what was effectively the best three-game stretch of his entire career, Jose Quintana has cooled off a bit against the Diamondbacks, Cardinals, Brewers, and Reds. Although, to be fair, three of those four teams are among the better teams against left-handed pitching in baseball and Quintana wasn’t exactly bad. He just wasn’t as dominant as he was.

But maybe that’ll change tonight. The Phillies are an exactly league-average team against left-handed pitching this season, with a 100 wRC+ that ranks 14th in MLB. The only notable caveats is that (1) lefties have had a tough time striking them out (7th lowest K-rate v. LHP) or getting ground balls (5th lowest GB% v. LHP) this season. So Quintana will have his work cut out for him.

Both teams are going with similar looking lineups, with the Cubs swapping in Willson Contreras and the Phillies bringing in Scott Kingery.

The Cubs need a win tonight to get to the rubber match tomorrow. Let’s see it. Go Cubs.
