Elvis Andrus Pulls Off the Rare Straight Steal of Home

Baseball Is Fun

Does a better pitch get him? Probably, but that’s the thing about stealing home with a great jump: it throws the pitcher off. As you can see, Kevin Quackenbush tried to hurry to get a throw home, and it garbled him up.

Great awareness by Andrus to see that Quackenbush would lower his head and raise his glove as part of his routine, giving him an opportunity.

I absolutely love this play. It’s so rare to see a straight steal of home (as opposed to a double steal).
