Whenever I see a minor league player crash through an outfield wall, I can’t help but wonder what the ugly collision would have looked like if the player were instead in a big league ballpark. Or, God forbid, Wrigley Field. To run into a still-pretty-solid wall with enough force to pop out a panel is a serious thing.
Take, for example, Marc Wik, an outfielder whom the Astros sent to play ball in Australia this offseason. He was trying to make a catch last night, and …
That dude did not just go through the wall, he wrecked the wall. Look at the panel to the right of the one he went through – either it’s just barely on there, or he hit it so hard with his right arm that he not only went through the panel on the left, but also totally dislodged the panel on the right.
Hopefully he’s all right.
