Hanley Ramirez’s Time in Left Field Remembered Fondly, Hilariously

Baseball Is Fun

With word that the Red Sox fully expect Hanley Ramirez to be their primary first baseman next year, I thought it worth sharing this hilarious “highlight” reel from his year in left field, complete with a perfect soundtrack.

It’s like they summoned the ghost of Manny Ramirez:

Ramirez finished the season with an unconscionable -31.9 UZR/150 and -19 DRS. Don’t worry if you don’t know what those statistics mean … just watch the video again.

Hopefully it’ll be a little better for Ramirez at first base, given that, until last year, he was a Major League shortstop. Let that serve as proof that you can’t automatically assume that any player can go out and hack it in left field.
