I don’t usually buy tickets for the lottery. I’m not particularly interested and I prefer the instant gratification of scratch-offs ahead of the wait and anticipation of something like the Powerball. Worse, I absolutely hate the following line of thinking: “Well, because it’s so big, I bought a ticket.” As if $50 million isn’t worth my time or dollar, but $100 million is. Still, $1.5 billion is a lot of money.
And because it’s so big, I bought a ticket.
The only problem is, I don’t have that great of a shot to win. Sure, I knew the odds were long when I bought the ticket, I’m no sucker, but I didn’t know they were astronomical:
Bartolo is more likely to hit an inside-the-parker than you are to win the #Powerball: https://t.co/cf22wQGDRU pic.twitter.com/lZOFnUCtVW

Basically, from what I can tell, I have a better shot at witnessing a Bartolo Colon inside-the-park home run than I do of winning the lottery. A *lot* better shot. Never in the history of the world has there been tougher odds.
Then again, Bartolo’s been looking pretty good lately … anyone know of a good jet ski dealership?
