The Kansas City Royals may have only just won the World Series this past year, but they’ve been winning the billboard World Series – which is totally a thing, don’t look it up – for years.
A few years ago, after picking up James Shields in a trade with the Rays, the Royals showed off their new arm on a set of clever billboards with young catcher Sal Perez:
The next year, it was star left fielder Alex Gordon tearing up the billboard:
Last year, the Royals were on fire (thanks to Kayla for the heads up on the oversight!):

In some ways, billboards are a passé thing – a relic of a time gone by. But when you do them right, when you treat them with a level of care that turns them into art? Well, then everyone still talks about them.
Good on you, Royals.
