In my experience crazy uniforms, team names, and promotions are the calling card for Minor League Baseball in the United States. In an effort to increase exposure and sell more tickets, Minor League affiliates of major league clubs do just about anything from helicopter candy drops to Star Wars to 70s theme nights to beauty pageant award show runner up nights.
Having interesting uniforms has always been one part of that.
But now, the Orix Buffaloes of the Japanese Pacific League might be taking that distinction away from the minors with their all new, as noted by Kazuto Yamazaki and CBS:

Those uniforms are … well … interesting. They remind me of those 1970s era colorful plaid suits. Apparently, they aren’t the first people to every think about this – that honor goes to the 1916 Giants – but they are the only ones with the guts to do it lately!
I don’t know. I think I kinda like them. I wonder if I can get one in a shirsey.
