College Baseball’s Only Female Pitcher Won Her First Game (VIDEO)

Baseball Is Fun

Sarah Hudek is a student at Bossier Parish Community College and the daughter of former Astros closer John Hudek.

She is also the only female pitcher in college baseball. Moreover, she is the only female player to ever get a scholarship to play America’s pastime at the collegiate level, and this past week, she earned her first pitcher win, striking out three over 2.1 scoreless innings.

You can see some of the footage from the game:

Hudek carries an 82 MPH fastball, as well as a change-up and a curve ball, and she describes herself as a “crafty left-hander.” And, if you’re thinking this is some sort of publicity stunt, you’d be wrong.

“This is not a gimmick, and I could care less about media attention,” the team’s head coach Aaron Voracheck told the Shreveport Times. “I’m signing her up to help us win games.”

And so far, she’s done just that. Check out this interview to hear about her experience and success. She’s an impressive athlete. Hopefully we continue to hear more and more about her career:

And here’s a feature on her and her father from when she received her scholarship last year:
