Sarah Hudek is a student at Bossier Parish Community College and the daughter of former Astros closer John Hudek.
She is also the only female pitcher in college baseball. Moreover, she is the only female player to ever get a scholarship to play America’s pastime at the collegiate level, and this past week, she earned her first pitcher win, striking out three over 2.1 scoreless innings.

Hudek carries an 82 MPH fastball, as well as a change-up and a curve ball, and she describes herself as a “crafty left-hander.” And, if you’re thinking this is some sort of publicity stunt, you’d be wrong.
“This is not a gimmick, and I could care less about media attention,” the team’s head coach Aaron Voracheck told the Shreveport Times. “I’m signing her up to help us win games.”
