Although he’s not yet 33, it feels like Miguel Cabrera has been in the league forever, and has been mashing for almost that long.
And it feels that way, because he kind has. Ever since he debuted as a 20-year-old rookie back in 2003, Cabrera has done nothing but rake, hitting .321/.399/.562 in an era where that kind of line is simply incredible. Only Albert Pujols’ line – .311/.397/.580 – is just a tiny bit better among batters with at least 1200 games in that stretch, and I’m thinking Cabrera is going to pass Pujols this season.
Anyway, I just felt like saying some things about how awesome Cabrera has been, in light of the fact that he launched his second Spring Training homer yesterday, and it was an absolute bomb:
I love the laughter in the announcer’s voice as he describes the ball flying out, and heading all the way to the back of the berm. You just don’t see too many mammoth shots like that in Spring Training, especially in the Grapefruit League.
But, then, there aren’t too many Miguel Cabrera’s out there.
