Johnny Cueto Hit in the Head By Line Drive, But Continued Pitching (VIDEO)

Baseball Is Fun

Baseball is unquestionably fun, but it can also be pretty scary sometimes.

To that end, in his Spring Training start yesterday, new Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto was struck in the head by a Billy Burns liner on his very first pitch of the game:

As you can see from the trajectory (and hear from the sound), that was not exactly a glancing blow. Cueto got hit by that ball right in the forehead, and it was ugly.

Yet, he stayed in the game and seemed completely fine. He pitched three innings after that, his normally-scheduled amount, and departed. From there, he was examined further for concussion symptoms and will be monitored.

So far, it looks like Cueto avoided the worst of a play like that, and hopefully there aren’t any side effects later on. Pretty incredible when you watch that video.
