There is something perfect about the way the events unfold in the following clip, so allow me to set the stage.
At some point during a Houston Astros game, Orbit, the Astros’ mascot, begins doing what mascots do: dancing. Only, he isn’t innocently dancing alone, the way mascots so often do. Instead, he’s clearly egging on the security guard, trying to get him to stomp the yard, step up 2: the streets and get served all in front of a large crowd of fans. The security guard, of course, is a serious man with a serious job who couldn’t be bothered by such immaturity.
You know, until this happens:
Not only was the shock of seeing the security guard actually respond to the dancing hilarious, his moves are seriously impressive. He flips, cartwheels does the James Brown splits, everything … it’s insane.
Impromptu? Planned? A planted ringer?
Eh, who cares. It’s a great clip!
Good on him and good on the Astros. This is type of thing that makes baseball fun – and we need more of it.
