Bartolo Colon Hits His First Career Home Run, Life Makes Sense (VIDEO)

Baseball Is Fun

Bartolo Colon turns 43 in 16 days. He does not appear to be in peak physical condition. He has spent many years wearing down his body with the rigors of a Major League season.

And yet, even at this age, Colon remains a tremendously enjoyable athlete to watch. Last night, he may have pulled off the most entertaining feat of the latter years of his career.

He took James Shields deep:

To be sure, the homer was not exactly a Giancarlo Stanton shot, at just 96.8mph and 365 feet. But a home run is a home run, and that one was as notable as it was entertaining. That’s because it was the first of Colon’s career, making him the oldest player to ever hit his first home run.

That’s fun.

In a completely unrelated note, James Shields remains available in trade.
