As we live and breathe, Yoenis Cespedes is a pretty good baseball player for the New York Mets. In fact, just by the numbers, he’s technically one of the best baseball players in the world right now. But maybe in another life, another universe, he was supposed to be a hockey player.

When Gio Gonzalez took an 0-2 pitch out to left field in Wednesday night’s Mets/Nationals matchup, Cespedes decided to use his body to block the ball. I’m, uhm, not entirely sure why, but it seems to have worked. So, good play?
It was kinda funny and kinda cool, but he wouldn’t be the first wannabe hockey player who excelled at blocking baseballs with his chest.
