Kevin Pillar Making a Habit of Ridiculous Catches (VIDEO)

Baseball Is Fun

With the exception of maybe just Kevin Kiermaier, Kevin Pillar has cemented himself as one of the top defensive center fielders in all of baseball. And, to be fair, he technically is the best defensive center fielder in 2016 by a variety of advanced defensive metrics (DRS, UZR, Def).

All of which is to say, check out what he stole from Brian Dozier with a fantastic play in left center field:

Now don’t get me wrong, the dive was unbelievable and extremely impressive, but I think the run was even more so. Pillar covered an insane amount of ground beforehand, running fast and in a perfectly direct path.

The fact that the ball just barely fell into his outstretched gloved underscores how little room for error there was in his journey to that spot. That ball was way closer to left field than center, but Pillar made it work.

He’s made a habit of absolutely incredible catches.
