Jennie Finch, fast-pitch softball legend, is ready to make history this Sunday, when she becomes the first female manager of a mens professional baseball team. Indeed, Finch will be a guest manager of the Bridgeport Bluefish of the independent Atlantic League on Sunday, as they take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (there’s a lot of blue aquatic life in this league, eh?).
Bluefish GM Jamie Toole was quoted saying, “She’s an incredible athlete and a wonderful person, and we hope our fans will enjoy seeing her in a Bluefish uniform for the day.” It’s a big a step for Finch (and for women in general) and it’s extremely great to see talented individuals be rewarded for their hard work and skills.
Perhaps Finch is on her way to legitimate, full-time managerial career. And just in case, she’s not leaving anything up to chance …
I have @TommyLasorda on speed dial. https://t.co/QKqdZj9lKi
