The Phillies Go Around The Horn To Complete The Triple Play

Baseball Is Fun

Although triple plays certainly *feel* like something that almost never, ever happens, there have been a fair amount already this season (six, to be exact). The most recent one came yesterday, as the Phillies whipped it around the horn, for the most embarrassing ball in play Jabari Blash could have hoped for:

The game situation – one-run game, two on, nobody out, late innings – it’s just … woof. That’s rough. To be fair, it’s not entirely Blash’s fault, (the ball had to be hit in exactly the right spot and a number of excellent plays needed to be executed), but you just know his face was beat red as he headed back to the dugout.

The Phillies wound up winning by one run.
