Coaches always talk about the importance of going from first to third on a single, but I think the Giants’ Buster Posey took it a bit too seriously.
Standing on first, as Brandon Crawford came up to the plate (we’ll get to his historic night, later), Posey took his lead off the bag and began sprinting as soon as Crawford sent a line drive into center field. Rounding second, Posey came barreling towards third at full speed. With the throw coming to the bag from center field, the third base coach motioned for Posey to get down/slide, but he Posey went a little too far down.
