Tim Tebow Wants to Be a Professional Baseball Player, Is Inviting MLB Teams to Workout

Baseball Is Fun

Baseball is fun.

That’s not just the name of the site, it’s something of a philosophy about a sport that, at times, can be made a little too serious. So, then, if someone out there wants to have a little fun playing baseball, far be it from me to disparage.

It’s just … um …

Well, it’s interesting if nothing else.

Tim Tebow has always been a very impressive athlete, but, now 28, he hasn’t played baseball regularly since he was in high school.

If that story sounds vaguely familiar, it may remind you a bit of former Bulls superstar and one of the best basketball players of all-time Michael Jordan, who, at age 31, hung up his sneakers for a spell to try his hand at professional baseball. Jordan played a bit at AA, even after having not played the sport since high school. He wasn’t especially good, but he hung in there.

Here’s the thing, though: what Jordan did is crazy impressive. Baseball is an incredibly difficult sport, and Jordan more or less competed admirably with some of the best players in the world (don’t forget: even players in the minor leagues are among the best players in the world), even though he hadn’t played the sport in 13 years.

So, if Tebow hopes to accomplish the same – he’s reportedly been working out to become an outfielder – he’s going to have to be really, really good. And is Tebow the athlete that Jordan was? I have my doubts.

Still, it might be fun to watch.
