We’re not just simply running out of ways to express how much of a freak Giancarlo Stanton is, we’re running out of ways to express this very introductory thought, as well. Every … other … day, it seems, he’s doing something he shouldn’t be capable of doing. But that’s Stanton. I fully believe he’s a player with skills on a level of his own.
Just last night, for example, he broke his bat … and still drove the ball with authority out to the left field wall. I just … I don’t understand how you can do that:
If you stuck around for the slow motion playback near the end, you’ll even see Stanton shrug his shoulders and raise his hands in confusion, as in, “Where the hell did that … nah there’s no way it’s all the way out there.” According to Statcast, Stanton drove the ball 369 feet – enough to leave a number of ballparks – and 95.7 MPH.
And for some perspective on the exit velocity, consider this:
Giancarlo Stanton hit a ball 95.7 MPH when he broke his bat… Even when his bat breaks his exit velocity is above league average, 89.2 MPH

I believe the correct response is … “wut?”
