Close your eyes. Go on. Think back to your childhood, little-league days and answer this question: What was the all-time dream?
For most – and certainly for me – the dream was hitting a game-winning, two-out, full-count, walk-off home run for my team in the bottom of the final inning. For one Little Leauger, Kenny Rix, that actually happened, and it wasn’t just a home run, it was a walk-off grand slam.
Check it out:
Down 7-3 heading into the bottom of the final inning, Massachusetts walked the bases loaded to get to Rix … but they would quickly regret it. With the bases loaded and two outs, Rix hit the ball over the left-center field fence, giving Rhode Island the finals runs they would need to win and inch closer to the Little League World Series – according to Cut4, his team is now just one win away.
And I bet I know who’s the coolest kid on the playground.
