Young A’s Fan Denies Astros’ Mascot, Won’t Change Teams For Free Stuff

Baseball Is Fun

I don’t have any children, but if and when I do, they will definitely be Cubs fans.

I’m not going to force them, of course, – how could you wish this sickness upon anyone? – but that’s where they’ll end up. They’ll have my stupid, Cubbie-blue blood running through their veins, and no matter how hard they try, no matter how bad it is for them, they’ll never quite be able to quit the Cubs.

Believe me, I’d know.

That said, I’d still be mighty proud if – around the age of the young A’s fan in this video – my kid was able to resist the pull of a big friendly mascot like the Astros’ Orbit handing out free merchandise. This is the mark of a true fan:

That’s my girl!

But woof: The Oakland A’s aren’t much easier to love. Good luck, little one. You have a lifetime of heartache ahead of you – and it’ll all be worth it, because you’re a real fan.
