Do you remember left-handed pitcher, Mike Gosling?
This isn’t a trick question, he was a real Major League pitcher from 2004-2010. But the simple fact that I have to assure you of that fact, means your answer is almost certainly, “Uh…no. Uh, what was his name again?”

Mike Gosling was something of a journeyman reliever and occasional starter who played for a handful of Major and Minor League teams throughout his short professional career. And although he’ll be the first to tell you that his performance was never the source of memorable moments for fans, that doesn’t mean his career isn’t riddled with interesting stories.
Now long retired, Gosling works as an attorney in San Diego, but just recently, he wrote an article for Sports Illustrated that is definitely worth your time.
“The Top Nine Moments of my Completely Forgettable MLB Career,” is an endearing tale of one “forgettable” MLB pitcher’s placement in the middle of many interesting, funny, and unexpected stories regarding some of the most famous players and people of all time – pitching with Randy Johnson, hugging Ken Griffey Jr., meeting President George W. Bush, oh, and not getting beaten up by Adrian Beltre are just a few of the stories that fill the article.
Think of him like the Forest Gump of Major League Baseball – quietly a part and/or cause of several otherwise interesting moments, without any particular notability himself. Trust me, this one’s worth your time.
