Big Papi Gets A Surfboard from the Padres, Because Whatever at this Point

Baseball Is Fun

As we know, David Ortiz (“Big Papi”) is retiring at the end of the season. And, as he visits each stadium for the last time as a player (his “retirement tour”), different teams have honored him by gifting him rather, eh hem, unique items.

Already, for a couple of weird examples, Ortiz has received a life-size, lego replica of, well, himself from the Red Sox, and also 34 pounds of Northwest King Salmon from the Mariners. A couple of nights ago, the Padres sent Ortiz home on a surf board with his image on it:

You know, a watch would have been just fine. 

He’s going to need another house for all of this stuff.
