Do you remember that time the Chicago Cubs won the World Series?

I remember! But before that now-famous Game 7 on November 2 ended, the Cubs played a couple of playoff series against the Dodgers and Giants, and before that they played 162 regular season games (well, 161.5 … there was a tie … no, seriously).
And during all that time, you Italian-beef-loving, deep-dish-pizza-serving, giardiniera-heaving, metal-bean-boasting, still-stubbornly-calling-it-the-Sears-Tower-4lyfe Chicagoans did a heck of a lot of Googling.
In fact, according to Forbes, the Chicago Cubs were the most searched professional sports team in America throughout 2016.
- Chicago Cubs
- Cleveland Indians
- Pittsburgh Penguins
- Oklahoma City Thunder
- Carolina Panthers

But it doesn’t end there.
Among the top 10 most searched MLB players, six were Cubs, including four of the top five and six of the top eight. Leading the list, naturally, is Mr. Last Out (a.k.a. Mr. Sparkle): Kris Bryant.
- Kris Bryant
- Anthony Rizzo
- David Ross
- Curt Schilling
- Aroldis Chapman
- Coco Crisp
- Addison Russell
- Jake Arrieta
- Adam Laroche
- Trevor Story
Following closely behind Bryant, of course, is Anthony Rizzo, because those two don’t like to go anywhere without each other, and behind them is their grandpa, David Ross.
All three players will now be honored at this year’s Googly Awards, held on February 30th at eleventeen o’clock. Tune in to channel 246B for the show.
