A few weeks back, we wrote about the bright and shiny new White Sox prospect, Michael Kopech, who was acquired along with Yoan Moncada and others from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for southpaw ace Chris Sale.
More specifically, we wrote about how he [Kopech] was once clocked at 105 MPH, most likely due to – in some small part – his ability to do this:

Well today, he’s showing that up … quite a bit.

While getting in some offseason training to prepare for a big season in a new organization, Michael Kopech reached back and fired off a 110 MPH fastball into a net, and you’re definitely going to need proof, I know:

I don’t care how strong that net is – how would you like to be the guy having to hold that gun as the ball rockets toward your face?
Now to be fair (to physics) this is a drill to see how fast you can throw the ball, not necessarily to see how fast you could pitch it. But still, 110 MPH, even with a crow hop and a loosely defined target … yeesh.
This guy may or may not ever be the next Aroldis Chapman, but he sure can bring the heat.
