Just over a week ago, Manny Machado made an astonishing diving catch in the infield against Team Canada. If you don’t remember it, you can check it out here, but I’m sure this image will ring a bell:
Even for a third baseman who’s really a borderline shortstop, that play is just unbelievable.
But I’m not sure it tops last night’s glovework.

In the sixth inning of yesterday’s 3-0 win over Venezuela, Manny Machado made an ridiculous stop in foul territory, before throwing the ball what they call a “country-mile” to get the runner at first.

And to be fair, the first baseman, Carlos Santana, helped the play out by making a good stop and diving back towards the bag with his glove. Well, done.
