Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Steven Souza Jr. just celebrated his 28th birthday on Monday and it’s sure to have been a good one. After all the right-handed right fielder is having his best start to a season yet.
His defense has been decidedly above average (second most Defensive Runs Saved among all right fielders) and he’s slashing .349/.426/.590 with four home runs in his first 22 games! That’s one heck of a start.
In fact, it’s such a good start, that some might even wonder if a it was part of his birthday wish this year! Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Instead, this year, Souza spent his ONE birthday wish on Orioles’ outfielder Adam Jones … begging him to STOP WAVING AT HIM:
Hey @SimplyAJ10, since it IS his birthday today, maybe you can cut @SouzaJr a break today? #SecondBaseStandoff pic.twitter.com/w3SNBKQ4iu

The Rays sent that tweet out into the Twitter-sphere, hoping for the best. But what they got in return, was something they probably should’ve expected:

Oh Adam Jones, you silly goose.
