If Rangers’ youngster Joey Gallo is known for anything it’s his raw power. In five (partial) Minor League seasons, he crushed 152 long balls, and he’s already hit 19 at the Major League level this season alone (T-9th most in MLB).
One thing he’s not quite known for – like most corner infielders and sluggers – is his speed. But when his power isn’t quite enough to take the ball out of the ball park, he uses his legs to pad his home run total.
Check it out:
That’s Joey Gallo busting it around the bases and scoring on a fly ball to left field before the ball even gets tossed back in. In fact, because the Blue Jays left fielder, Steve Pearce, fell down, it’s the shortstop, Ryan Goins, who ultimately fields the ball in deep left field.
It’s not a traditional four bagger, but it counts.
