I got in an argument on Twitter the other day (naturally) about who is the better third baseman, Kris Bryant or Nolan Arenado. Obviously, both are extraordinarily talented and have their individual strengths, but as a Cubs fan (and a fan of advanced analytics) I had to go with Bryant.
HOWEVER, despite legitimate arguments over who has more power, who’s the better base runner, etc., there’s no denying who the better defender is: Arenado.
Look no further than this absolutely jaw-dropping play from Arenado last night, wherein he makes a diving stop, reaches for the ball on his belly, flips over and throws out the runner at first from his back.
Un-be-lieve-able:
There’s no question, Arenado’s defense is supreme.
