A Ball Bounced Off This Minor Leaguer’s Head … And Over the Wall for a Home Run!

In a move reminiscent of Jose Canseco, minor league right fielder Zach Borenstein has done the unthinkable: he allowed a ball to bounce off his noggin and over the wall in right field for a three-run dinger. Whoops.

Indeed, last night, the Dodgers No. 2 prospect – Alex Verdugo – hit a fly ball out into right field and was hoping for, at best, a double over Borenstein’s head.

What he got, of course, was so, so much better:

That was Verdugo’s first homer in over a month and you can read more about how he was fighting back laughter (poorly) while rounding the bases right here at MiLB.com.

What I find even crazier about all of this is how far away Borenstein was from the wall. At least when Canseco did it, he was right up against it … Borenstein, on the other hand, well, he had probably another ten feet to go. I’m dying.
