The Players Weekend Jerseys and Nicknames Are Here and They’re Glorious!
In recent years, Major League Baseball has done (and allowed) more and more players to express their individuality on the field and have fun while doing it – which we, Baseball is Fun, obviously love.
And as part of that ever-growing desire to inject some life and excitement into the sport, the league has come up with a really awesome idea: Players Weekend.
From August 25-27th, players will be allowed to wear fun, youth-inspired uniforms with their own chosen nicknames on the back!
Here’s a taste of what you might see:

According to MLB.com, several Major Leaguers will also serve as “Players Weekend Ambassadors,” which means they’ll be helping to promote the event.
That list of those ambassadors includes the Mariners’ Yonder Alonso (Mr. 305), the Cubs’ Javier Baez (El Mago) and Anthony Rizzo (Tony), the Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista (Joey Bats), the Indians’ Francisco Lindor (Mr. Smile), and many, many more. I seriously can’t wait. I think it’s going to be awesome and feel like a whole new sport for a few days.
In any case, here’s a closer look at some of the teams’ full lineups:

We absolutely love this idea and think MLB is clearly heading in the right direction. Way to go, Comish (or whoever was responsible for the event!).
And, of course, if you have any interest in buying these jerseys (of course you do) you can find every single one of them right here at the MLBShop … that is, while they last!
