Oh, there’ll just never be anything as sweet as a big ole whiff on a sub-60 MPH eephus pitch.
Take a look at the one Red Sox reliever Fernando Abad got Rays shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria to swing through with two strikes in the top of the eighth inning yesterday:

That is absolutely devastating (and a tiny bit hilarious, as always). And it isn’t even something new for Abad. Check out the eephus he threw to Raffy Lopez just last week:

Apparently, he likes to call this his “super change-up,” but we all know what it really is: a beautiful, evil, and sophisticatedly tricky eephus pitch. Awesome.
