Today is the final day of the 2017 MLB Winter Meetings, but it’s also the night the latest Star Wars episode, The Last Jedi, premieres world-wide. So, naturally, the folks at Big League Stew (Yahoo Sports) combined the two for your enjoyment.
So watch and laugh as some executives and baseball-personalities try to matchup current MLB players with their Star Wars counterparts (Luke, R2-D2, Chewbacca, Yoda, Darth Vadar and more):
My picks?
Luke Skywalker: Kris Bryant (no-brainer, he’s uber-talented, but good-natured).
Darth Vadar: Aaron Judge (big and powerful, but also a Yankee (a.k.a. the Evil Empire)).
R2-D2: … yeah, you know they nailed it with Jose Altuve.
Chewbacca: Again, it’s hard to argue with Justin Turner.
Yoda: I’m gonna go with David Ross (no longer a player, but a wise retired vet with information and guidance at his disposal).
Han Solo: Mike Trout (he’s one of the most talented and likable players in baseball, but somehow doesn’t quite get enough credit for everything he does).
Thoughts? Who would you put where?
