The 2019 HR Derby is all set to take place this Monday, July 8th, and I can’t wait to check it out. I know some people feel differently about the importance – and risks – of the exhibition event before the other exhibition event, but what is there to say? … we all dig the long ball.
As CBS points out here, this year’s crop of competitors isn’t entirely settled just yet, but one player guy we know we’ll see out there is none other that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (a.k.a. Vladito).
Vladito, 20, is in the middle of a relatively middling rookie season (don’t worry, we all know he’s going to be a monster soon enough), but the power is very real. And getting his bat – and presence – out in Cleveland for the Derby is a fantastic idea – one that he’s clearly taking very seriously.
Sit back, watch, and listen as he absolutely DESTROYS baseballs in preparation for the contest. It’s truly mind-blowing and a treat for the senses:

Yeah … I think he’s going to do just fine.
