I don’t know what it is about position players pitching that loosens MLB right up, but I wish they were always willing to have this much fun.
Down 11 runs late in the game, the Nationals turned to outfielder Dee Strange-Gordon to conserve their pitching staff. But when he uncorked a 52 MPH fastball(?) that plunked Braves catcher Travis D’Arnaud in the arm, the giggles came out all across the diamond.
Instead of getting out of the way, or even just putting his head down and lumbering over to first base, D’Arnaud comically hit the deck as if he were beaned. It was hilarious and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

And honestly, I’ve seen worse.
