Angels left-hander Reid Detmers made history tonight, tossing the first (solo) no-hitter of the 2022 MLB season (and 12th in Angels franchise history). His final line: 9.0 IP, 1BB, 2Ks. Yeah, just two strikeouts! Crazy.
Here’s a look at the final out and ensuing celebration!
What a moment!

That throw was a little loopy for my liking. I’d have been sweating each millisecond before it hit the glove.
But let’s zoom back in on Detmers, who was drafted less than two years ago(!) as the tenth overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft. This was just his 11th start in MLB. DUDE!
Reid Detmers, with only 62 innings in his *minor league* career, has thrown a no-hitter less than 2 years after he was selected in the @MLB Draft.
22 years old. What a story. @MLBNetwork

Detmers becomes the youngest pitcher to throw a no-hitter since Anibal Sanchez back in 2006.
A genuine thank you to the fans that are roaring as Reid Detmers steps up to the mic

Oh, and in the same game, Anthony Rendon hit a home run … as a lefty.
