Consider this a hilarious postscript to the Worst Strike Zone of the Year. That was umpire Doug Eddings having serious trouble with the strike zone in yesterday’s Blue Jays-White Sox game, and the resulting damage arguably cost the Blue Jays the one-run game.
Just now, when Blue Jays hitting coach Guillermo Martinez came out to exchange lineup cards BEFORE the game, he must’ve said something … because he got the rare pre-game boot:
As the broadcast speculates, it’s pretty likely Martinez couldn’t help but say something – the zone really was that bad! – and it wound up sending him to the clubhouse before any of his hitters actually came out to bat.
