For the most part, there’s nothing subtle about Javy Báez’s game. He’s got big tools and makes use of them loudly and often. It’s what we love about him. But sometimes, if you’re watching closely (and your eyes are fast enough), you’ll catch him doing something amazing without even knowing exactly what happened.

Blink and you’d miss it.
That ball was a rocket off the bat and popped up into the air off Báez’s body. But after corralling it into his glove, Báez somehow manages to make the tag on the Pavin Smith running by to end the inning. You’ll have to watch the replay a few times to really appreciate what he does. What a play.
