There’s a healthy AL MVP debate going on right now between two well deserving candidates. Shohei Ohtani is a bona fide All-Star on both sides of the baseball (like nothing we’ve ever seen) and Aaron Judge is having a Barry-Bonds-like offensive season (202 wRC+). I tend to lean towards Ohtani for the uniqueness of his skillset, but Judge is just NOT taking his foot off the pedal.
Tonight, he added home runs No. 56 and 57 in Boston, which means he’s just four home runs away from Roger Maris.
He hit his first home run 383 feet out to right field at 110 MPH. And his second went 389 feet to left at 101 MPH. It also tied the game late against the Red Sox. I can’t believe how amazing his season has been. I’m rooting for him to reach 61 so badly, and at this rate, he’s going to do it.
All of which is to completely ignore the fact that he has 20 more homers than any one else in MLB.
