Honestly I feel like my reaction to a World Series no-hitter would be something like, it sucks to lose a game like that no matter what, so it’s hard to really care about the stats.
So I can totally relate to Philadelphia Phillies outfielders Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos when discussing Game Four of the World Series, where the Houston Astros threw just the second no-hitter in World Series history.
Here’s Castellanos, putting it diplomatically:
Exactly. Maybe it sucks a little extra to get no-hit, maybe it doesn’t. But all that actually matters is that it’s a loss, and now the series is tied.
Kyle Schwarber put an even finer point on it:
I actually believe Kyle Schwarber on this one. I just don’t think the Phillies would feel THAT much better if they’d gotten a hit and lost, you know? They’d still be bummed that they find themselves tied in the series, and lost their first postseason game at home this year.
Besides, now they have a little more anger to channel into their Game Five performance.
