He Caught It
It’s early, but Arizona Diamondbacks right fielder Jake McCarthy just made his case for Catch of the Year. If not for the overall difficulty, at least for pure fearlessness … and acrobatics. I mean, really, The Score nailed the question: How the heck did he hold onto this baseball?
That ball came off the bat of Austin Nola in the bottom of the 8th inning. And while it was foul, there were two runners on late in a 3-run game. That’s a huge play. Also, I love how quickly Jake McCarthy gets up and how absolutely thrilled he is with himself. He earned it. Awesome, awesome catch.
Here’s another angle on the McCarthy catch, in slow-motion.
