How NOT to Run the Bases: 101 (by … Andrew McCutchen?)

Baseball Is Fun

Over the years, we’ve seen plenty of examples of how to run the bases smart and make an impact with your legs/brain …. This is extremely not one of them.

In today’s Pirates-Red Sox matchup in Boston, Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds and (more specifically, Andrew McCutchen) made a couple of bone-headed decisions on the bases leading to two outs and the end of the 9th inning. Lucky for them, they had the lead (and would go on to keep it for their fourth win of the season), because WOOF. This is bad.

You do just not expect two guys with that much talent (Reynolds) and experience (McCutchen) to do this. I mean, McCutchen, my guy … you’re running the wrong way! And look at the third base coach just standing there, hands on hips, in disgust. Too funny. That is a true TOOTBLAN if I’ve ever seen one (google it).

I think Javy Báez and the Cubs really just broke all the Pirates:
