No, Shohei Ohtani Isn’t Hiding Anything Illegal – He’s Just Awesome
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher/DH Shohei Ohtani is so good that sometimes you wonder if he’s doing a little something extra out there. HIDING something!
Just kidding. I don’t wonder that. I just think he’s freakishly awesome at baseball.
BUT! If you’re an umpire, it’s your job to wonder things like that. So if you saw Ohtani doing something a little odd with his arm, you might feel like you have to go see what’s up. That’s what happened in Ohtani’s latest start, as he was CONCEALING SOMETHING IN HIS ARMPIT!!!
… it was just his pitcher PitchCom device, which allows him to communicate (legally) with the catcher. The umpire even had a good laugh about it once he realized what was under there:
Add that to the long list of things that are truly unique and incredible at Shohei Ohtani: he’s so good, umpires are legally obligated to wonder if he’s hiding stuff from them. (He’s not.)
