Rumors and reports about free agent quarterback Mike Glennon have been consistent, and firm this week: the Bears want him.
The merits of that position can be debated, and undoubtedly will continue to be debated regardless of what actually happens this week, but the consistency of the reports cannot be denied at this point. Either the Bears are extremely forthcoming in their interest in Glennon, or a cadre of folks are all telling the same tale for whatever reason. (Which, hey, is possible.)
Added to those reports today is word that, in turn, Glennon wants the Bears.

More than that, other plausibly-interested teams like the Jets and the 49ers seem to be bowing out. Are there other suitors left who are willing to offer Glennon starter money and/or a real opportunity to start in 2017?
According to CSN’s John Mullin, the Jets, 49ers, and Bills are all out on Glennon, meaning that the Bears very well may be the only team actively pursuing Glennon for a starting job. That, Mullin suggests, could drive his price tag down from the earlier-reported $14 to $15 million annually.
As a backup, Glennon would undoubtedly have a great many suitors, and would probably net a deal for more than Chase Daniel’s $7 million AAV. So, there’s clearly a floor here, even if the Bears offer Glennon the clearest path to starting.
Although we can still make the argument that Brian Hoyer makes the most sense as a bridge quarterback while the Bears develop a long-term starter, perhaps plucked from the draft, it’s also true that if Glennon comes on a reasonable contract, there’s not a lot marrying the Bears to him long-term. Take a shot, see what he can do, and don’t block any youngsters.

UPDATE: It sounds like Jason La Canfora is hearing similar things about Glennon’s market right now:
Have yet to be convinced the Bears are competing with anyone but themselves for Glennon. Lot of buyer beware there, especialy over $10M/yr
