Having missed out on Stephon Gilmore earlier today, the Chicago Bears may actually be more focused on the guy who many see as the top cornerback on the free agent market: breakout Texans corner A.J. Bouye.
When free agency begins today, CB A.J. Bouye is likely to leave the Houston Texans and sign elsewhere, per sources.

#Bears did make strong offer to top CB A.J. Bouye. Not sure they land him, but interest is very real.

Props to Jeff. #Bears definitely in pursuit of A.J. Bouye. Plenty of competition from AFC South clubs. https://t.co/84JgdyeWWG

Other reports have suggested that one of those AFC South clubs – perhaps the Titans or Jaguars – have the inside track on Bouye, but the Bears have an obvious need. Although the draft is deep in the secondary, the Bears would be best served not having to rely exclusively on that route for an upgrade (especially considering how many other areas the Bears need to address via the draft).
This is a situation where money is going to talk, and the Bears have among the most cap room available in the league. We’ll keep tabs.
